I am sure everyone has heard that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know that I rarely eat breakfast and I only know a couple people that are in school that eat breakfast on a regular basis. I wanted to look into what makes it so important and why so many people skip breakfast. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast in the morning make better grades in school. I remember when I was in elementary school my teacher used to give everyone in the class a small, single serving size, box of cereal to take home and eat in the morning before we took a standardized test. I guess they knew the secret to making good grades was to eat a healthy breakfast in the morning. Eating breakfast is said to be so important because it gets your brain started and gives you energy. It also can keep you from getting so hungry at lunch time that you over eat to compensate for your missed meal. If breakfast has all of these benefits, why is no one eating it? I know a lot of people including my self do not eat breakfast because they wake up to late and do not have time to prepare something to eat. You can always grab a pop tart or something of that nature, but that is not really a healthy breakfast. Also I know a lot of people that are just not hungry in the morning and the thought of eating makes their stomach hurt. The other day I was told by a friend that when he eats breakfast he finds himself in the bathroom (#2) more often than if he would have not eaten. I am sure there are many people with their own reasons for not eating breakfast, but according to studies they should be eating in the morning. How often do you eat breakfast? When you do, is it healthy?Thursday, November 4, 2010

Dear Fast Food Inflation,
ReplyDeleteI feel like I should be eating breakfast a lot more often after reading this blog. I keep forgetting that it is the most important meal of the day. I do agree when you pointed out that most people skip breakfast. I hardly ever, or do my friends, eat breakfast. Some days I really do feel worn out and have no energy in my morning classes because I hop right out of bed and go straight there with no food or drink. This especially affects my KPED class when we do physical activity. Thanks for the enlightening post and inspiration to get up and eat breakfast.

dear fast food inflation,
ReplyDeletei, like you, have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day yet i struggle to eat it. i feel as if i need to eat, but instead of making myself wake up and go get somethin substantial to put into my belly, i sleep until about 5 minutes before class.
i can tell this is effecting me and my daily routines, and i am actually trying to change my habits, and more or less shape my day around healthy eating schedules.
this will require MUCH work.
thanks for writing about somethin i can relate to, i will definatly continue to comment if you keep this trend going.

Dear Chase,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with breakfast being the most important meal of the day. I never used to eat breakfast when I was in high school. If I did, it consisted of a granola bar and a cup of coffee.
I agree with your thoughts on it kicking our brain in gear. In college, I began to eat breakfast daily before class. It has greatly helped me focus in my eight o'clock classes.
I have always enjoyed breakfast foods, and I have always liked eatig when I wake up. I used to have a problem with time management. now, I make time to eat and it has helped me greatly.
Tanks for posting. Keep up the good work. Please comment on my blog, food interpreted.
Sincerely, Sebastian
Dear Chase P.
ReplyDeleteI love to eat breakfast, but since I have been at UCA I think I have only ate breakfast a total of four times. I would like to start eating in the morning again because it makes me feel better and more energized in my early classes, but that means I have to wake up even earlier. I have heard that it is the most important meal of the day like you said but I still struggle to eat it. To answer your questions, I rarely eat breakfast and when I do it is at the caf and consist of eggs, biscuits, and maybe some orange juice. Thank you for the post.
