Favorite Holiday for Food?
Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is right around the corner. I am so ready for Christmas day to get here because my family is going to have a big meal cooked before we all open presents. Thinking about this got me thinking that I don't know what my favorite holiday is for food purposes. Thanksgiving of course is a given. There is an abundance of food just waiting to be on everyones second plate for the meal. At thanksgiving there is also pie and other desserts just waiting for you after you are already full from your meal, but you eat it anyway. This is an amazing holiday filled with food. Christmas also for my family has a lot of food. We don't have to have turkey, which I don't really like, and we always have something different. Christmas always has a lot of desserts as well and after you eat, you get to open up all of your present, or vice versa. Then there is halloween, another great holiday surrounded by food. This food is all candy and some kids get a huge amount that will last months, or until the parents put it in the trash. I think that thanksgiving is still the best holiday for food even though these two other holidays have a case for being the best. Which holiday is your favorite for the sole purpose of food? Do you like turkey and potatoes with some football. What ever you eat for christmas and some presents. Or do you like all of the candy on a night where you try to scare everyone.

Ramen Noodles.
Today as I was eating some Ramen Noodles I wanted to look more into what I was actually eating. I looked up the ingredients of a beef flavored Ramen Noodle package. As I thought, I found a bunch of ingredients that I knew absolutely nothing about. Some things that I saw that I had no clue about were things like Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, and Riboflavin. When I looked up Niacan I found that it is actually vitamin B3 and is important for phsiological and enzymatic functions in the body. It can be used to help metabolize foods and lower cholesterol. When I looked up Riboflavin I found out that it is vitamin B2 and is also essential to your health. It has properties like Niacan that help the body metabolize food and Riboflavin can also assist in reducing red-eyes, if you ever need that for any reason. I then looked up Thiamine Mononitrate, which is also known as vitamin B1. Thiamine Mononitrate is required by US laws to be placed in food containing enriched flour, which Ramen Noodles do. In fact all of the above must be in food that contains enriched flour. So all of these additives actually do serve a purpose I as I researched I did not find any negatie feedback on these three things. They seem to be needed in foods like Ramen Noodles and actually serve a purpose.
Waffle House Vs. IHOP
Today my blog will be about the classic match-up of Waffle House vs. IHOP. I for one love both of the restaurants but understand their differences and how people favor one over the other. Waffle House is the classic place to go for your muchies if your either drunk, high, or hungry from an all nighter. You can always depend on getting some great food from Waffle house at 1 a.m. and the service isn't that bad since they are probably accustomed to seeing inebriated people every night of the week. Waffle House is usually cheaper and to me the food seems more real, I mean I can even see them cooking the food I am about to eat. Despite Waffle house being cheap, delicious, and a great place to go if your drunk, they are often not the cleanest places. They all just look old and trashy, but they make up for it with their food. IHOP is also very delicious and has a lot more variety then Waffle House does. They also usually look nicer and are a lot bigger inside. One deciding factor that usually makes me choose Waffle House as the better place is that IHOP has the worst waitresses and waiters. It seems like everytime I go it takes 30 minutes to get a table no matter how many people are eating there. IHOP also seems more expensive than Waffle House is and the food is not any better. The pancakes are really good at IHOP and I like pancakes a lot more than waffles. After thinking about it all I think I would say Waffle House is the better option. What do you think? Do you favor either one?

Where to go grocery shopping
Since I started college I always seem to go to Walmart whenever I need to go buy some groceries for my dorm. When I lived at home I always went to Kroger. The only reason this changed is because Kroger was closes to me at home, and Walmart is closer to my dorm. I decided to do a little research and find out if I could figure out which store would be cheaper for me to shop at. The main things that I now buy for groceries are very simple items that include sandwich meat, water, soda, bread, chips, soup, and hot pockets. After researching a bit on the items that I buy and other popular items I found that Walmart usually has a lower general price for most of their items, but Kroger is constantly having sells and you can sometimes save pretty big if you pay attention to what and when the things you want to buy are on sell at Kroger. Kroger also has a lot of coupons that can help customers save money while shopping. I have a friend that has worked at Kroger for over 2 years and he says that Walmart employee's are always coming into Kroger and looking at prices so they can go back to Walmart and make the prices a couple of cents lower. For a college kid I would say Walmart is probably the best bet since most of us are not buying a lot and don't really care about sales and coupons for our soda and chips. Where do you go to buy groceries?
